Purple Shutter Hits Toronto

kidonbike2
Remember summers when you were a kid, riding your bike around your neighbourhood with your friends until it was time to go to bed? For me and my friends growing-up, bike riding is what the summer was for and now my son and his buddies love tooling around on their bikes, too. In downtown Toronto, which is where  I’ve always lived, people are really passionate about bikes. We’ve got a cyclists union, a world-famous bicycle thief and (fingers crossed) sometime this fall the city might introduce bike sharing .  So it’s no surprise that for tons of Toronto kids and parents, family cycling is part of their lifestyle and part of their summer.

The Purple Pedals Project

purple_pedals_how_it_works

Want to take a spin on our new ride? For the next two weeks, Bunch is playing host to Purple Shutter, one of 6 shiny purple Y-Bikes, distributed to different people in different cities to showcase unique events, people and locations across the globe. The bikes automatically take pictures and upload them to Flickr via a digital camera mounted on the handle bars. You can follow their adventures through the Purple Pedals web-site.

Bunch is lending Purple Shutter to families in our hometown of Toronto. So if you’re interested in taking her for a spin, use the comments in this post to let us know where you would go and what you would do. We’re looking for family bike adventures that will show off our city and generate excitement about family biking.
