This Sunday is Father’s Day but in our hometown of Toronto, it’s also the day for Totstock, an eco, rock and literary festival spearheaded by musician and dad, Don Kerr. Here’s our exclusive interview with Don about Creativity and Kids. Happy Father’s Day from Bunch to all the dads out there!

Don and Dove
How would your kid describe what you do?
Rock and roll
Is your kid planning to follow in your footsteps? Why or why not?
It seems this way, as Dove has endless creative energy and a strong work ethic.
What did you think you’d be when you grew up?
Artists… Claudia and I both knew very early on that we had to do our own thing.
Growing up, I wish I’d spent more time playing and less time watching tv.
Your workspace: forbidden temple, or part-time playground?
Full-time playground for sure.
I am utterly powerless to create without my: Time to dream.
I know things are perilously out of balance when: There’s no food in the house.
In what ways do you enjoy the arts as a family?
Our best times are when various creative people come through our house, casually dazzling all of us with their particular genius.
It’s pizza night at your place. What’s on it? What’s definitely not?
Definitely pesto, portabellos and goat feta. Definitely not processed cheese or smarties.
If you were to collaborate on a project with your kids, what might the result be?
Our house! it’s a fort, a garden, a sports complex, a concert hall… a permanent installation project.
