Toronto:
The Gnomes and Michelle Rumball perform at this fourth and final installation of Rockin’ the Cradle. Organizer Sarah McGaughey is moving her crew to Kingston and will no longer be throwing these great, all-ages concerts, that brought indie bands and families together at the no-frills Tranzac Club. We will miss this event, where pierced parents and wild-haired kids from T.O’s music community and families who looked decidedly more uptown spent a mellow and companionable Sunday afternoon together listening to some tunes. Sarah has offered to pass the torch to anyone interested in taking the organizing on. Check out her site for more info about this Sunday’s event, and for her contact info.
Vancouver:
Folks will be planting over 1,000 native species trees at Everett Crowley Park on Saturday. Kids and parents can enjoy yummy food and music as well.
Montreal:
Bunch has a thing for geocaching, an awesome geek hobhy where you use a GPS to search for stuff that other people have hidden. In what may be the neatest Earth Day activity ever, the Montreal biosphere is hosting a 3 km geocaching treasure hunt in honour of the planet. Kids and parents will uncover caches that contain clues and information used to answer questions about the forest, the earth and energy.
New York:
Oh, New York bunches. You have so many good options. Will you check out the Gustafer Yellowgold concert? Or head out to the Bronx for the Kids Comic Con? Bunch votes for you to attend the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus’s Cavalcade of Youth at Dixon Place, where you and your kids can check out some pint sized performers doing the tricks of tomorrow.
