A creepy literary event for kids eight and older featuring performances inspired by “Half-Minute Horrors”, a new anthology of instant frights for young readers. Put your kids in their costumes early and head out! Mariko Tamaki, Ken Oppel, Ron Hawkins and more are on the bill! Royalties benefit First Book, a not-for-profit organization that brings books to children in need. There is a suggested donation of $10 per family.

Park Slope Children’s Halloween Parade
Saturday, October 31st at 7 PM.
Starts at 7th Avenue and 12th Street and proceeds to Union Street.
The Village Halloween Parade is something you must do with you family at some point, for the epic theatricality of it! But if you’re looking for something a little more down key but also super awesome, The Park Slope Children’s Halloween Parade is pretty darn great and families really throw down for the costume contest.

Dia de los Muertos is a traditional Meso-American holiday dedicated to the ancestors; it honors both death and the cycle of life. Neighbors gather in local cemeteries to share food, music, and fun with their extended community, both living and departed. The celebration acknowledges that we still have a relationship with our ancestors and loved ones that have passed away. And there’s a really wild parade.

The capital’s most iconic landmark, The London Eye, will be transformed into a spooky forest complete with a bubbling bog of no return for children who’ve been naughty. From Saturday October 24th to Sunday November 1st, two very peculiar witch sisters will be teaching children a lesson about the perils of misbehaving with Witch Trick encouraging children to be naughty and Witch Treat trying to save them from her wicked sister.
