Where the Wild Things Are Dance Party from Rebecca Brown on Vimeo.
What Is a Wild Rumpus? The book leaves this up to you to imagine but I think we can all agree that a Wild Rumpus is the craziest, wildest and best party you’ve ever been to.
What to Wear to a Wild Rumpus? There are really only two options: 1. Wolf suit 2. Hairy or feathered Wild Thing costume

What you do at a Wild Rumpus: Someone proclaims “Let the Wild Rumpus Start.” Then you roll your terrible roars, gnash your terrible teeth and roll your terrible eyes while dancing wildly. You will need music. When it gets out of hand, someone should yell “Be still”. Here are some additional activities:
ART: We gave kids photocopied monster silhouettes and pastels and hung their monster portraits up to create a Rogues Gallery at the Rumpus.
FORT BUILDING: We built cardboard box forts at our Rumpus. But a fort can be made out of anything. For inspiration, take a look at the forts pictured on the Spike Jonze Wild Things inspired site, “We Love You So”. The site is running a fort-building contest.
MUSIC: Our Wild Rumpus Playlist includes the entire movie soundtrack by Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and some other wild tracks.
PICTURES: We gave kids a sign that said “I AM WILD WHEN..” and got them to complete the sentence. Then we took picures of them.
Where to Hold Your Wild Rumpus: A Rumpus can happen anywhere if you bring your wildness to it. Our friends at Newmindspace (World Pillow Fight Day) counsel you to use your city as your venue and hold your Rumpus in a public space. This way your Rumpus will draw different kinds of people together. Our Rumpus was held at a nightclub on a weekend afternoon. It was a great place for kids to go safely wild, since we were able to contain them and provide some supervision. For a more intimate Rumpus, there’s nothing like a Rumpus Room.
What Do You Eat at A Rumpus: Purists hold that only hot soup should be served at a Rumpus, since this is what Max finds waiting for him on his bedside table when he returns from the land of the Wild Things. Others feel that a host should serve foods that people adore, so that guests can say to their meal , “We’ll eat you up, we love you so” , before digging in. We at Bunch feel anything goes and point you towards the following links to Wild Things inspired foods:
